Amansara

  • Book Now

Amansara decadence now surrounds the once guest villa of King Norodom Sihanouk. It has been transformed into a 24-suite retreat that provides an ideal base for exploring the temples of Angkor. Amansara has the inviting ambience of a gracious home and is set in a private garden with mature trees providing shady rest areas, to compliment sun terraces and water pools. Its architecture is built in harmony with local culture and the environment, allowing ancient trees to remain.

Service is impeccable as the general manager provides an individual personalised welcome to each and every guest on arrival. The outside reception area is decorated with a huge bowl of chrysanthemums, and uniformed with old style remorks and bicycles.

Amansara's ‘club house feel' lounge and restaurant is a welcome retreat after a day at the temples as afternoon tea is served with home made cakes and cookies. Also included in the half board rate are house wines, and spirits which can be taken at leisure, as if in your own drawing room at home. A well stocked wine cellar, with cheese platter, is an added extra, but no less has a fantastic range of fine wines on offer.

The name Amansara is derived from the twinning of the word 'aman' - Sanskrit for peace - and 'Apsara' - the heavenly nymphs of ancient Hindu texts who emerged from the primordial churning of the oceans with the power to change their form at will and to bestow luck on those they favoured.
