Traveller Comments:
"The hotel is in disrepair with no current maintneance plans in operation. The wireless internet was not functioning and instead of having free internet in the lobby they had a pay service with which you had to pay $2 per 90 minutes - and again, were doing nothing to repair/reconnect their internet connection. Poor management. I booked this hotel because it advertised free internet connection."
Mr. John P. - United States on 22/04/2010
"Very nice place, desk operators very helful."
Mr. Norbert H. - France on 01/03/2010
"good hotel friendly staff tuk tuk drivers always out the front a bit far to walk to the old market and pub st
dont try to sleep in as there is blaring music fronm the mall next door they have huge speakers out the front and oh the breakfast is so so"
Mr. Paul K. - Australia on 31/10/2009
"I read several comments on how treatment was not to the mark at Angkor Star Hotel. I found it good and up to the mark."
Mr. Rajaram K. - India on 10/11/2008
"Trip Advisor had some warnigns against the rooms not being kept well or having certain odors. As we have two other couples traveling with us, two of us were lucky and didn't have any issues at all, the third did not have a shower curtain, bathroom that didn't work properly and certain odors, but nothing that they couldn't live with.

The area that I was a slightly disappointed had nothing to do with the hotel itself, but associated with the transportation service and prices quoted."
Mr. Andrew C. - United States on 25/07/2008
"Great place to stay for the money. The location was good, the staff was friendly, and the food in the restaurant was a good value.

The only thing that I found interesting is that they wanted to add an extra 2% for paying my bill with a VISA. I have never encountered that before. I mildly complained, and they said that they would not add the charge, and would inform the manager. I was not charged, and they were very kind about it.

I highly recommend the Angkor Star."
Mr. Dave M. on 21/06/2008
"Great hotel, rooms very clean, bathroom kept clean. A really nice place to stay"
Mr. James M. - Australia on 27/05/2008
"friendly at the desk
but cashier and supervisor staff very unfriendly
and not cooparative
sheets dirty
beds not made
rooms as such acceptable
payment could not be made by credicard
payment in local money (real) was a ripp off

"Very nice hotel, very friendly staff, great swimming pool and superb location near to the town and temples."
Ms. Rebekah M. - Australia on 01/04/2008
"There is no doubt the hotel was very good and great value for money, location was good also.
The only downside was when checking in they claimed they did not have booking, 2nd day messed me about also, eventually sorted but put a damper on otherwise an excellent trip."
Mr. Victor F. - Ireland on 19/02/2008
"Deluxe room wes enormous and beautifully furnished and TV had over 90 channels, many in English. Bathroom would have been amazing if there had been enough hot water to cover the jets in the spa bath. Staff helpful but English speaking guide (no. 1868) they organised was terrilbe. Taxis and tuk tuk drivers ordered through them were fine though and reasonably priced. Good location. Recommended."
Mrs. Penelope E. - United Kingdom on 10/02/2008
"I loved angkor star hotel. It was in perfect location, right near some very very expensive resorts hotels such as the raffles grand hotel. Angkor star itself is a 3.5 star hotel, and with very elegantly decorated clean rooms, a pool, and providing a very very good breakfast. Couldn't have been happier with my choice. Price was also excellent. "
Mr. Yufeng W. - United States on 01/02/2008
"is a nice place to stay. the range of the breadfast is ok only. overall, i like the place, only disappointed as they do not allow me to have late check out at 3.00pm as my flight back is in the evening"
Mr. Eugene N. - Singapore on 16/01/2008
"The Angkor Star is a lovely, older hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are large, but soft furnishing a bit tattered and in need of refurbishment. (towels, curtains, bedding, hall carpets). Large pool with plenty of room for lounging- but some pool tiles broken and missing filter cover. Also, note that there is major construction on a shopping mall right next door; we had to ask to change rooms due to the banging and drilling. Overall though, good value for the money. Great location!"
Mr. Michael S. - United States on 05/01/2008

"Generally Angkor Star gives a very nice ambience, clean and good hospitality. The hotel is only < 10 mins walk fo the old market place or tuk tuk ride of US1 one way. the breakfast makes me feel at home. It has the usual Malaysian food. Pay by credit card imposed 2% but nothing for cash. I hope the staff will give better service to contact respective airline to see if the flight is on time. This is where i was disappointed with their service. they did not take the extra mile to check and in the end i had two hours delay at the airport which i could have used the time to do shopping or massage which is very cheap and not to be missed.

"The room we got was very small and the bathroom quite oldfashioned."
Mr. Helge K. - Norway on 31/05/2007
"The hotel is located closeby to shopping area , food centre and about 15 min drive to Amgkot Wat. I'm satisfy with thew hotel and service."

"It started off with a good impression, but when we realized that the room we were assigned is overlooking a consruction site and it was really noisy, we asked if we could change to another room, the staff at the reception was not only rude, but refused to acknowledge and just scoff as if we're asking to be upgraded to a presidential suite. But, overall we're quite impressed with the hospitality of the rest of the staff who has made our stay very welcome. It's a good location, a nice and confortable walking distance to the markets and places to eat. However, what really spoilt it all is upon check-out, when we wanted to pay by credit card, we were informed that there will be an additional 3% service charge, which we were not informed of when we made the booking. We gave our credit card details to secure the booking, so it is only logical that we are making the payment by credit card, and that it is only fair that we are informed if we are going to be charged anything extra.........so, a word of advice, bring plenty of cash for payment of your stay unless if you're willing to pay the additional 3%........."
Ms. Shereen L. - Malaysia on 26/05/2007
"i enjoyed my stay at angkor star. i got a great price on a big two bedroom suite with two large beds and all the cable tv you could ask for. the pool was very nice. the front desk was friendly and helpful. my only complaints are, first, that the staff didnt speak any english, and since only foreigners stay there it would seem that at least someone should....and secondly, the breakfast service needs to be vastly improved. i had to get the front desk to call someone to the restaurant just to make me an omelette, and the bus staff didnt seem to care at all about service. tables with dirty dishes on them were never cleared (i had to do it myself) and supplies of coffee cups, coffee, juice, plates etc were just allowed to run out. this is inexcusable and was really irritating, i mean, how difficult can that be?
so thats all. the hotel has a definite "the shining" kind of feel to it but that i guess thats part of its charm."
Mr. erik c. - United States on 24/05/2007
"Hi there,

Its only our proposal . You need to look into :

1. The ventilation of the rooms. There is a wet smell when you enter the room.
2. Breakfast meal menu shall be change in daily base and provide different type of jam such as strawberry and orange.
3. The towels provided in the room is not clean and very rough.
4. Your small refrigerator provided in the rooms are not chill enough ."
Mr. THARMARAJA A. - Malaysia on 25/04/2007
"Toilet seat in reception badly broken needing replacement. Toilet handle in my room needed replacement. Towels rather old and thin, otherwise wonderful value for money, guess the brown water is still something no-one can resolve. Would recommend hotel."
Mrs. June D. - United Kingdom on 21/04/2007
"The water was very discolored, I did not feel like I was getting clean at all. This must be fixed."
Mr. David M. - Hong Kong on 16/04/2007
"We stayed at the Angkor Star Hotel largely because they had a pool and used it on our first night there, but the following day it was out of service for maintenance and remained out of service for the duration of our stay. The hotel management refused to either let us check out and move to another hotel or to make arrangements with another hotel for us to use their pool. They assured us the pool would be back in service after 24 hours, but this was not the case. The water was a nasty brown color and clearly not usable. Other than this, the hotel was fairly nice. We were pleased with our suite other than the fact that there is construction going on next door."
