ConCERT - engage with local community projects
With the overall aim to reduce poverty, ConCERT (Connecting Communities, Environment and Responsible Tourism) try to achieve this by bringing together organisations active in the local community, and visitors who have time at hand and would like to give their support.
Despite the increase in tourism, over half of the population in Siem Reap province live below the poverty line and a large number of organisations and NGOs are engaged in community development and support activities, which supplement the work of the government. These cover many sectors and include the care of children, (orphanages, schools and day centres), education, agricultural development, infrastructure, women's issues, health, the care and rehabilitation of land mine victims, and environmental and biodiversity protection, etc.
At ConCERT, you will find information on a range of activities that need your support, all of whom are well managed, sustainable and working in partnership with local people.
