Mrs Long Chanthy

My name is Long Chanthy (second from left), and my husband is Um Sarin (far left). I was a teacher from 1979 to 1994 and my husband was an official at the Department of Finance in Siem Reap Province. In 1994, my husband and I decided to quit our work as government officials and open up a guesthouse. We have two sons. The first son is studying for a Masters degree in architecture in Germany. Our second son graduated from a local business school and will work for the family business. Together, our two sons designed our guesthouse. Both our sons can speak English, French and German. We have seven employees working at the guesthouse. They are all orphans from isolated areas in Cambodia. My family adopted all of them and taught them how to work. They can read, use computers and are currently learning English. They are honest, polite and well-behaved. I love the arts, especially Khmer traditional music, songs, and traditional dance. I am a good cook, particularly with cakes. I am also fond of sewing and interior decoration. I decorated all the rooms in the guesthouse. My husband loves planting trees and flowers and tending our garden. He enjoys talking with guests and is very helpful to all of them.
