Handicap International started their work in Cambodian refugee camps in 1982, since then nearly 63,000 mine/explosive remnants of war (ERW) casualties have been recorded. In 2007, there were 351 new victims, almost 1 victim per day. These figures are testament to the necessity of work carried out by Handicap International today. People with disabilities in Cambodia are facing new challenges such as the increase in traffic and road safety issues. The continued work at the centre provides assistance to an average of 260 clients per month, and outreach workers visit on average 210 homes a month. The work carried out is free of charge. The work of the centre not only helps patients mobility, it also helps their opportunities and brings a positive outlook to their future.
