Caring for destination
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Local employment and community projects
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Mr Kunn and his Jasmine staff encourage guests to see more of Siem Reap than just the temples. A selection of information is available and guided tours to several charitable organizations can be arranged for guests that want to experience more.

Donation baskets are also available for guests who end up with a heavy backpack. Clothes, books and pencils are distributed to schools and villages in and around Siem Reap and guests are welcome to come along on these trips.

Jasmine Lodge is a latest initiative school and activity centre located in Mr. Kunn's home village in Kralanh District, which is located approximately 54 kilometers outside of Siem Reap.

"The boss hires staff from rural villages and pays for their schooling & our tuktuk driver gets free room and food at the lodge as well as his monthly wage. You get to know all of the staff which gives the whole trip a personal touch and it's good to know where your money is going."
Ms. Christine W. - United Kingdom on 24/07/2010
"I cannot comment on this as I had no knowledge of this."
Mr. Ross P. - Australia on 21/10/2008
"we made our arrangements on our own, mostly before we arrived in cambodia, so we did not need jasmine lodge to make any arrangements. our tuk tuk driver was well informed and helpful too."
Ms. Tan Lee G. - Malaysia on 24/01/2008

"For the price it's a great place with a large clean room. Distance from the centre of things can be walked but it can be hard working walking in the heat. Good place to stay"
Mrs. karen h. - United Kingdom on 27/07/2010
"We were very happy with our bedroom which was huge with 2 king-sized beds all for 45 USD for 4 nights! We also really liked the welcoming and cosy communal area where we enjoyed delicious breakfasts and relaxed with the friendly staff in the evenings... Excellent lodge all-round especially the attentive and caring staff. It made our stay in Siem Reap very special and we both look forward to returning as soon as possible!"
Ms. Christine W. - United Kingdom on 24/07/2010
"The owner of the hotel was very nice and helpful. The room smell a bit like mold. I suggest you bring your own tower. Otherwise, very very good value for the price!"
Ms. Mai H. - Vietnam on 15/07/2010
"The staff were very welcoming and the service was excellent. Brilliant value for money!"
Ms. Michelle M. - United Kingdom on 18/02/2010
"For $6/person, we had a clean spacious room, a fantastic breakfast and warm+friendly service.

Mr Kunn arranged our Angkor tour guide for $20. He also arranged our floating forest/village tickets at $8 each, when the original would have cost $15.

It was a great experience."
Ms. Lynn L. - Singapore on 20/10/2009
"The owners were lovely and very helpful for all our needs. In particular, they helped us out with some lost plane tickets, dealing with the airline on our behalf and then booking additional flights for us at a discount when it didn't work out. They also arranged a tuk tuk driver for us for two days at a fair price. Only 10 minute walk from the main restaurant/bar area. Rooms are great for the price, although I think our air con wasn't working properly, but we didn't end up needing it anyway."
Ms. Rebecca F. - Australia on 23/11/2008
"The only negative comment I would have is that it took a few days for my laundry to be ready .,which may have been the result of heavy rain during the days I stayed at Jasmine Lodge.

Good value for the money."
Mr. Ross P. - Australia on 21/10/2008
"After a late booking online with angkorhotels.org, the owner of the guest house was waiting for me at airport the next day !
Jasmine Lodge in Siem Reap, Cambodia has two buildings (a third one is not finished now) and the welcome and service are excellent. Rooms in Khmer style are very clean. A shady terrace is a relaxing place when hot sun ! And what great mixed fruit shakes !!!

"good location - there are shops and things to do nearby. the exterior was a little messy as they were doing some renovations, but overall the place was clean. we were happy with the condition of our room! it was located in a quiet area also, so we got the peace and quiet we needed without being cut off from the action outside. :)"
Ms. Tan Lee G. - Malaysia on 24/01/2008
"Wonderful host, great staffs. But the rooms offered could be better. A guesthouse that is worth your money."
Mr. Din R. - Singapore on 06/12/2007
"In fact, the hotel is okie. Only the hotel staff let me down as he didn't inform me of the bike renting when it failed. Then, at the arranged time, I came to take electric bike, he said it was not ok and said sorry without any alternatives offsered."

"Sorry, i just felt very upset. VZRV99 is my booking code.

Well, what happened was, when i reached Siem Reap airport, no one from Jasmine Lodge waited for me. I waited for 30mins plus, then i ended up paying a motor to send me to Jasmine Lodge, and they told me, they didn't receive my booking.

So what's the booking code for? Is this website fake or what?

What a bad start for me....

So, i ticked 'BAD' for everything...If there's very very bad, then i'll choose it too."
Mr. Khoo Chee K. - Malaysia on 24/07/2007
"The fact that I've had to ask VISA to conduct an investigation of both the online booking as well as Jasmine Lodge probably speaks volumes for anyone who might think of using either of these services."
Mr. Leslie T. - United States on 21/07/2007
"the room is nice and the cable tv really help a lot for a nite entertainment. however, it would be much happier if there are night/dinner gathering organised by the lodge to enable ppl living there hv a chance to meet up."

"A very cozy hotel with a very nice staff! some misunderstandings though, when it came to bus tickets... Great and cheap restaurant!"
Ms. Karin A. - Sweden on 07/03/2007
"We booked a transfer from Airport, but they did not come to get us. We had a very noisy Room, the Noise started 5.30 in the Morning. We asked to change a few times, they always said: "yes, yes" but nothing happend.
We would not go there again!"

Mr. Ha Dao M. - Vietnam on 27/02/2007
"The hotel staff was rude, their tutu driver has got a very bad attitude problem.
when asked to bring us to our desired attraction location, the driver, give us all the excuses and even asked us to walk since it is very close. he drives very slowly, we were always overtaken by other vechicles. at the end of the day, we decide to "fire" him and get someone else to drive us for the next two days. when the hotel staff know about this, their attitude towards us got even worse. When i went to inform them that there was no hot water in my room, they ask me to wait. i waited until 12am. the reception is closed. lights off. and nobody came to info me of the situation. I went to talk to the big boss, then i realise that my room isnt equiped with hot water. I think they should just inform me at the very moment, but they didnt. All i can say is bad attitude and service. my advise to travellers who need a budget place to stay, stay at some where else. we dont derserve that kind of attitude and poor service from them"
Mr. Chin Y. - Singapore on 04/02/2007
"Good value for money, a cut above the typical "backpacker hostel" very friendly staff and even has a pool table! and good cheap food from a very clean kitchen, cold beer and comfy beds what more could ask for a few bucks a night"
Mr. Robert P. - Australia on 22/01/2007
"Accommodation was adequate and staff were at times helpful although at other times appeared fairly disinterested in me. They also did not meet me at the bus station as had been promised when booking online - the primary reason that I had bothered to book ahead - and claimed when I arrived to have no record of my booking. Would probably try to stay closer to to town next time - was only a 15-20 minute walk to the old market however the walk was via the busy airport road and was not particularly pleasant."
Ms. Cassie R. - Australia on 04/09/2006
"Quite a good place to stay. Walking distance to central market. Hospitality is okay."
Mr. Ooi Keong T. - Malaysia on 02/08/2006
"SERVICE IS OK, THE STAFF IS GOOD, FREINDLY AND HELPFUL. I ENJOY MYSELF."
