Create jobs and income for local people.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Preah Riem Guesthouse is a small locally owned and managed guesthouse of which is very much like a traditional Khmer 'house that welcomes guests'. Being family-run, Preah Riem actively employ local people, mostly from the extended family, uses locally produced food and source the majority of its supplies locally. Although not big in size nor volume, Preah Riem supports other local businesses and has a positive knock-on effect on the local community.
For its guests, an advantage of staying in such a small place is the opportunity to meet with local people and maybe even join one of the staff to the local markets for a real shopping experience when they get fresh fruits and vegetables. Just make sure you arrange it in advance and remember that the local markets come to life early!
