Society - community development and Culture.
In an effort to revive cultural heriatge and tradition in developing communities, National Centre for Khmer Ceramics Revival (NCKCR) is dedicated to the rebirth, promotion and development of the ceramic arts in Cambodia.
This non-profit, non-government organisation supports Cambodian ceramic arts with facilities and programs that include a gallery, studio space, school, educational and outreach programs. NCKCR activities are decentralised allowing access to ceramics knowledge to disadvantaged people in rural areas. The NCKCR has and continues to organise rural workshops and perform structured sessions of vocational training.
Students who have graduated from NCKCR's vocational study centre have continued on to become employees of NCKCR, owner/operators of their own ceramic studios or facilitators in young ceramists in starting their own studios.
NCKCR believes in promoting broad access to the ceramic arts in Cambodia to alleviate poverty especially in Siem Reap, which is still the most poverty stricken province Cambodia.
Your visit to NCKCR will contribute much needed financial support to this NGO so that their work can continue. NCKCR aims to be self-supporting and with your help they can reach this goal.
