Schools for Children of Cambodia (SCC) are making a big difference to the educational chances of some of the poorest children in the Siem Reap province and this is a unique opportunity to see how it works and how they make it sustainable and successful.
You will meet Andrea, the very enthusiastic General Manager, at The Singing Tree at 10:15am and then visit one of the schools SCC work with. You will be taken around the school and told about the great work the charity does from funding, sponsoring, volunteering and the project in hand. You will be back in Siem Reap at approx. 12.30pm.
Scheduled school visits:
- 9 May - Lolei School, which is situated 15km out of town. The school is in the grounds of Lolei, one of the lesser visited Angkor temples.
- 23 May - Knar School, which is situated 5km out of town
- 6 June - Svay Dungkum School, which is situated 2km out of town
Schools for Children of Cambodia (SCC) is a registered charity funding free education programs for children in Cambodia. SCC is a voluntary, non-profit organisation with all funds going directly to supporting local schools and education projects. They aim is to spend money delivering and not on administration.
Currently they help support six schools in Siem Reap province with 2000 pupils in attendance. The Schools provide free education for children from the ages of 4-12 years. SCC also assist the more academically inclined children in attending the Government Secondary School to extend their education beyond the age of 12 years.
